In association with Kerala Social Service Forum, Quilon social service society formed ten self-helping groups of spinsters. A unit that makes and trades joss stick; two units that cultivate orchid plants; units for fabric painting and readymade garments etc. have been all functioning vigourously. QSSS gave them occupational trainings in candle making, food processing, fabric painting, pappadam making, and shopper making bag. Vocational training programmes and motivating programmes for personality development are held quarterly.
